I’m sharing my 20+ years experience so that anyone can start yoga. We’ve got five tips and we've got a BONUS pose at the end which an awesome thing to add into your life.
These five tips will give you the best experience with easy yoga at home if you're a beginner or want to want to restart yoga.
Tip number one start where you are with what you have.
So even if you don’t have a yoga mat, grab a blanket or a beach towel. You might be saying I can't do yoga, I don't have yoga clothes or I don't have a yoga mat.
If you've got a little space whether it be in your hallway or at the end of your bed maybe you've got a spare room or an outdoor you can do yoga. So start with what you have where you are let's get started.
Tip number two the foundations are in your feet
So your foundations are in your feet. You might not be used to having bare feet. So take a moment to take your shoes and socks off. Begin by walking on the mat keeping the ball of your foot on the floor so you're just lifting your heels. Maybe swing your arms. Now begin to lift your knees marching on the spot. Yay you’re doing yoga.
Stand tall and feel what it feels like to stand on your feet. Standing up and breathing it's yoga.
Tip number three start standing up
Start standing. Stand up tall. Press your feet into the ground. It's quite a hard thing to do if you're not used to it, so bend your knees press yourself away from the floor and stand tall. Release your shoulders away from your ears
Gently reach your hands up above your head and release them down by your side.
Breathe in and reach up your hands to touch above you and now breathe out and float your hands down. Tuck your chin now and roll your spine down as you slide your hands to your shins. Lift half way, fold down and slide your hands up your legs till you’re standing.
Slide on down, hands slide down, fold forward hinging at the hips. Halfway lift look forward breathe out and slide hands back to shins, now stand all the way up.

Tip five is breathe to calm your mind
I'm going to invite you to sit on a chair make it somewhere so your feet are on the floor and begin to notice your breath. Maybe you can put your hand somewhere to see if you're breathing. If you can't feel your breath just imagine where it might be and place your hands there.
Focus on breathing in and out to calm your mind. When you first start meditation or focusing on your breath you might have so many thoughts you think you couldn't do this. But everybody has disruptions and distractions. No matter where we are or what how long we've been practicing everyone continue to learn. That’s why it’s called a practice. It’s a practice able to focus on your breath.
Breathe in and out for five breaths. Actually just one is perfect to start with. Noticing your breath in and out just once brings you back to yourself into your body out of your head.
There we are that's all five steps done and dusted.
