The Power of Attitude: You Are the Creator of Your Experience

Your attitude is your lens. It colors the way you see the world, the way you interpret events, and the way you respond to challenges. From a Yogic perspective, and as reflected in teachings like A Course in Miracles, the world itself is neutral. Nothing inherently “good” or “bad” exists until we assign it meaning. Think about that for a moment: you hold the power to create your experience of the world.
The Morning Practice That Shapes Your Day
What if, each morning, you spent just five minutes deciding how you want to show up in the world? What if you declared:
- "Today, I stand in joy."
- "Today, I stand in peace."
- "Today, I stand in love."
- "Today, I stand in resilience."
This simple act of choosing sets the tone for your entire day. Instead of reacting to life’s circumstances, you create an inner posture—your attitudinal stance—that allows you to respond with grace and intention.
Responding vs. Reacting
Life will inevitably throw challenges your way. Traffic jams, difficult conversations, unexpected setbacks—it’s all part of the human experience. But here’s the transformative truth: you get to decide how you respond.
When you practice choosing your attitude, even the toughest moments lose their power to knock you down. Instead of reacting with frustration or despair, you anchor yourself in the values and feelings you’ve intentionally chosen.

- Unexpected setback? "I stand in resilience."
This is the art of responding rather than reacting. It’s the recognition that while you can’t always control what happens, you can always control how you meet it.
The Still Lake Within
Visualize a serene lake, its surface calm and undisturbed. This lake reflects the world around it so clearly that you can’t distinguish the reflection from reality. Now imagine the same lake, its surface rippled and agitated. The reflection becomes distorted, unclear.
Your mind is like that lake. When it’s calm and still, you see life for what it truly is—neutral, full of potential, and rich with possibility. When it’s disturbed by stress, anger, or worry, your perception becomes cloudy, and it’s easy to lose sight of the bigger picture.
Returning to your inner stillness allows you to respond to life with clarity and grace. Beneath the waves of emotions and thoughts, your true essence—calm, clear, and powerful—awaits.
You Are the Creator
At any moment, you have the power to choose your attitudinal stance. Will you stand in joy? In peace? In love? This choice is yours, and it shapes your experience of the world.
Life isn’t happening to you—it’s happening for you. And when you align with the truth of your own power, you can meet each moment with confidence and calm.
